The following are some of the types of records that TREESEARCH will access to research into your family ancestry.
UK Census
Censuses have been recorded in England, Scotland and Wales each decade since 1841. These records, up to and including the 1911 census, have been transcribed and are available on line. Every census since 1851 (the 1841 census recorded only very basic data) included the following information:
- Town / City and Parish
- Address (House Name or Street Name and Number)
- Names of all persons present at each Address (the Household)
- Age, Gender and Marital status of each person
- Relationship of each person to the Head of the Household
- Occupation
- Place of Birth
Copies of the actual census forms relevant to your ancestors can be supplied if required.
UK Birth, Marriage and Death Registers
These registers have been centrally maintained since 1837. In 1912, Marriage registers began linking the name of the bride and groom and Birth registers started to include the mother’s maiden name.
Birth (and Marriage) certificates are often the only method of correctly identifying the maiden names of mothers (and wives). Marriage certificates can also provide (or at least confirm) the name of the fathers of the bride and groom.
If required, certified copies of these certificates can be obtained.
Parish Records
Many English and Scottish parish records are also available on line. Depending on location, these records can date back to the sixteenth century and beyond.
More limited on-line records are available for research in Canada, USA, Australia and New Zealand.
See Sample Documents for examples of the above records.
